future?

Dear 84 year old Hannah

Do you remember when we had, tight jeans, side parts and boys wore eye liner? When we all spoke in our own language? Btdubs, lol, JK, BFF! I guess now you have something like BFETWO, do you get what that means? best friends even though were old? lol! I've always sat and thought about what the future would be like. I imagine it with hover cars and giant metal suits. A place where we don't even have to have talk any more can just think and everyone knows what your saying.

Hopefully, by the time you read this your a big shot billionaire. When I'm older I want to have a big mansion with 89 house workers. I really hope that the future doesn't change that much because, I actually enjoy the things we have in this century.

When you read this I hope the Alzheimer's isn't too bad and that you remember all the great memories we had as children. Remember things like boys go to Jupiter... I won't finish that. Or like T.P.ing cabins at Pinecrest or eclair fights with sour eclairs at Muskokawoods. I wish that in the future I'm still friends with all of the great people I've met over the years.

Now, when I look at the world today and see how we're treating it, with all of the polluting and global warming, I hope there is still a world for us to live on. Maybe we've discovered life on other planets, and your reading this from Mars. Hopefully, we haven't destroyed the earth that much.

So farewell 85 year old Hannah,
Hope you had a great life.

S is for Soccer

They just scored again. The game is tied, 3-3. 5 minutes left in the game, my hair is glued to my head with sweat. My breathing gets deeper and heavier. Someone trips me and I hear Ms Weldon yell "Hannah get up, get up" I turn to see the other teams forward lunging for the ball. A thought runs through my head "get the ball Hannah."...

Soccer is one of my new favourite sports, this season is the first time I've ever played it. My favourite position is stopper and right forward. What's your favourite? My favourite part of soccer is the rush you get as you run down the field with the ball. Our team is really big we have over 20 people on our team. Saski and Emma are our goalies, they are both really good. Lyndsey, Hayley, Georgia, and Josie and I are defence. They all have their own skills like lyndsey is a really good kicker and Georgia is really quick on her feet. Saski is small but, boy can she ever save a goal. We have a strong team.

Soccer is much like my other favourite sport, field hockey, the set up is kinda the same and the rules are pretty much the same but the only big difference is that in field hockey you can't let the ball touch your feet and in soccer it's the opposite. In field hockey I play defence as well. I like playing defence better in soccer though, because you get more playing time.

I think that soccer is a great and fun way to stay fit and active. When I run down the field with the ball I get a feeling that adrenaline is trying to creep it's way out of the inside of my stomach. Reflecting everything I've learned about soccer in the past couple weeks, I think that our team has learned a lot and will keep learning.

I got up out of the grass and ran for the ball, I got it I dribbled it, past to Kate she got past 3 defence players and passed to Emilie, she scored!!!! "TWEET" the reff blew the whistle, all the sjk players run to high five Emilie. We won and everyone is happy!

Soccer is one of the things I do because I like it. I love how it makes me feel and I love how I have great team and I love this new found passion of mine! What's yours?

My life lesson is to find something you love to do and to do it for yourself and for no one else.

M is for Math

"Almost done, almost done," I'm thinking as hard as I can, I know I can finish these last 2 problems before class is over. My pencil is screeching across my bleached, alabaster paper. I find my algebraic calculator I rapidly punch the digits, 78x360= 28080, finished one more to go I look back at the last question I think, "if y = 3, then y3 (y3-y)=..." then oh no I can think I only have five more minutes left in the class. OH MY GOODNESS, what am I going to do?...

Have you ever sat at your desk in a boiling classroom, peering at some difficult math problem and not know where to start? I have. Math should be classified as one of the last forms of slavery, no offense to Mrs Duldthard, but math is the most dreadful, harrowing, vile, shocking, horrific piece of school work, that when I look at it I feel nauseous. I can't believe that something like math would be taught in school.

I'm not the only person who doesn't enjoy math. Did you know that Miley Cyrus never liked math in middle school? I know that many people in our own grade do not care for math. I don't know how some mathematicians like, Pythagoras, Euclid, or John Von Neumann could sit for 8 hours and study math. But, I guess if you want to be the first person to find a certain theory in math you have a lot of work to do.

Not all math is hard or upsetting, I guess we need to know some basic math to live like how to tell the time, or if I want to buy something for $2 and I only have 8 quarters and I need to know if I have enough. Or if I need to make equal groups of people or if I need to know how many 4 inch cookies will fit in a box that will fit 12 inches. I guess math really isn't that bad. I do enjoy (some) math. Like adding, subtracting, multiplication, division and algebra...

...Wait algebra, it's all coming back to me now. I awaken from my short mid-math day dream to realize if Y=3 then Y3 would be the same as saying 3x3 therefor 3x3 is 9 then 9x another 3x3 so that's the same as saying 9x9 so that would be 81 and then the last step would be -Y so -3 the answer would be... 78! Yes I'm finished I scratch down my final sentance as numbers are flowing from my brain, if Y=3 then Y9(Y3-Y)= 78. I hand in my work and wait patiently for the last 2 minutes of class to finish I feel a sense of accomplishment, as I smile to myself, I finished that math problem and I am math free! At least for a while!

My life lesson is to not be afraid of math because we use it everyday and without it where would we be!

G is for "Green"

"I am the earth, you are the earth, the earth is dying and we are the murderers." ~~ Ymber Delecto

People today are always talking about going "green," but really what do they mean?

When I think of global warming and environment pollution I think of polar bears in the Arctic and smog in Dubai. If we were given this world we should keep it safe. I was listening to the radio today and I heard a commercial for Earth Day, it said "this earth wasn't given to us by our parents but lent to us by our children." It took me a while to understand really what this meant but after a bit I figured that they meant that you have to keep the earth clean and pollution free so our children can enjoy it just as much as we have.

Today people write books about how we are wasting so much paper, isn't that ironic? If they're really care so much about the environment that they are going to write a 400 page book about it, they should be outside and doing something about it. The people today are saying to drive energy efficient cars, when 6 types of electric cars are made in Canada but are illegal in 5 provinces. How can we safe the environment if every time we try we are shot down by the government?

There is more that 500 species at risk of extinction. How can we help those animals when there is people destroying their habitats with bull dozers and fires from the climate being too hot. When finally we get out country under control with the environment, how do we get the other 249 countries on board with helping this ongoing predicament?

I think that if everyone thinks this is a pressing issue, shouldn't the U.N. be doing something about it? If we think that the world needs our help because we are destroying it we should really go out and do something about it!

My life lesson is to protect out earth because it's the only one we have!

L is for Lady Gaga!

Lady Gaga, is she a man? Is she a woman? or both?

Is she an attention seeker or a true individual?

Lady Gaga or Stephani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, was born on March 28, 1986. People view Lady Gaga as a crazy person that does weird, abstract things for attention, but when really Lady Gaga does all those things for a reason.

Lady Gaga grew up in a rich family, she went to catholic school, with a loving mother and father. She always loved singing and her mother knew that she would be a famous singer one day.

From the time her first album came out in 2008, The Fame, to when she wore her first crazy outfit people thought she was just trying to be another Madonna. A girl that was just going to do wacky things to get the attention of the paparazzi. But Lady Gaga does it to show people that she is her own person and you don't have to stick to the norm to be a great person.

Lady Gaga's shocking Paparazzi Grammy performance sparked some rather rude comments. But what people didn't understand was that Lady Gaga had a reason for her performance. The song Paparazzi song is suppose to be about how Princess Diana died. Her performance of her hanging herself because of the Paparazzi was trying to show how Princess Diana was forced into a situation she shouldn't have had to and ended up dying because of it.

What people have to understand is the difference between Lady Gaga and Madonna. People compaire them everyday. I'm not trying to say anything against Madonna, but when she was Lady Gaga's age she was trying to do anything to get the attention of the paparazzi. She would be at parties, drinking underage, and always being in the spotlight. Lady Gaga says that when the fashion designers design abstract outfits for the runway they don't expect to see people wearing them. But Lady Gaga designs her outfits for her to wear she doesn't care what people think about her outfits she just wears them cause she wants to.

One thing I think we all could learn from Lady Gaga is how to be your own person. Lady Gaga can do this because she has great confidence and she can look at people that are staring at her and turn the weird looks into a great song, or a fabulous outfit. My life lesson is to be yourself, try not to be an attention seeker and to just dance because it will be ok!

S is for Showers

I Walked in to the bathroom and... STRIP! I enter the shower and and drench my hair in the lukewarm water. Following the directions on the back of my Abba Botanicals Volumizing Shampoo, I lather my lush hair, rinse and repeat! Getting shampoo in my eyes I start freak. But then I remember my "SHAMPOO IN THE EYE ESCAPE PLAN" I reach for my towel and then rinse the shampoo out of my eyes with the tap! THE SHAMPOO HAS BEEN ABOLISHED! Once the shampoo is gone, I know it's time for conditioner!

I squeeze a generous amount of Abba Botanicals Volumizing Conditioner onto my sparkling hair. Careful not to have a recap of the shampoo incident, I make sure to have a wash cloth close to grab, if my conditioner gets in my eyes. I scrub, getting my whole head clean as the conditioner works it's magic. I already feel cleaner already. I stand under the rushing, warm water, when all of a sudden the water turns a bitter cold temperature, not at all what I'm used to! My body reacts to the change in temperature. I act quickly jumping out of the flowing rain of the freezing water, and grab a warm towel. The warmth is comforting, then I stare longing at the shower wishing the water didn't run out.~~~

Have you ever felt like you don't want to get out of the shower? I have, and I'm am going to teach you how to know when you have had enough shower for the day!

First, once you have chosen a shampoo, you should choose one like Luster~Cream Shampoo.
Where you only have to lather once!! When you don't have to lather twice you shave off at least 2 mins off of your shower routine.

When you our finished shampooing and conditioning and the rushing warm water is flowing down like a waterfall... learn to say no to the shower.
When you are longing to stay in the water but your skin is wrinkly like a prune you know you've had enough!
You have to get out of the shower before you dry out!!!!

So, when you have your shower and your wanting to stay in the soothing water, remember To lather, Rinse and repeat only if necessary.

~~~ As I stare at the shower I wonder if the water has become warm again, I couldn't resist I hopped back into the shower and sure enough the water was a relaxing message on my back. I was my the perfect place!
It was like a dream!
Life Lesson: Learn how to say no to the shower!!
F is for Field Hockey
Flying down the field, your hair flowing in the wind, then all of a sudden... YOU SCORE!
The crowd goes wild!
I've been playing field hockey for 5 years, and in those five years I've only scored 1 goal, but it was epic! Field hockey is my favourite sport. I play defence, as well as right wing. The object of the game is to get the ball in to the other net, pretty straightforward,right? Wrong! It's actually really difficult. Especially when the other team is better than you! The schools field hockey is really good, the tier 1 team has won OFSAA 4 times in a row. And our under 14 team went undefeated, until the championship game.
I don't really know why I like field hockey, but I guess I like it because you play with a big team, and you get a lot of exercise. When I first started field hockey I didn't know anything about it, I didn't know any of the rules, or the object of the game. But I started to play it, and I loved it.
So my life lesson is to try things new because you just might end up liking what you do!
E is for Elmo Knows Where You Live
ELMO... Children everywhere love him, his soft red fur caressing your skin. His cute little voice, the way his beady eyes peer into your soul. He knows where you live! I think that Elmo is the scariest puppet...ever! Not only am I scared of Elmo but I am scared of every doll ever made. I have Pediophobia. Dolls are terrifying...
Dolls make my skin crawl. WHO IN GODS NAME DECIDED TO INVENT THIS HORRIBLE CREATURE!? What insane person creates a fake person, that's one step behind FRANKENSTEIN! Do you ever have the feeling that your favourite childhood doll has been watching you and recording your every move with tiny cameras in their eyes? I have. This thought may be really outrageous but it could happen. Like in the movie Coraline, in that movie there is a doll that comes to life, and takes Coraline into an imaginary world. I am scared that that is going to one day happen to me.
One of my best friends collects china dolls. And when I sleepover at her house I'll be sitting in her room just staring at the dolls and them staring back, as I move their eyes follow me like metal follows magnets. She has ones with red dresses and blue eyes and ones with black dresses with black ribbons in their hair. When I sleep in that room it's like a horror movie, where they are all staring down with crazy, creepy, violin music. That's what goes through my head.
I think that my imagination is too big. I make totally unreal, and could never happen things scare me to the point that I am terrified my an inanimate object. So my life lesson is to not be afraid of inanimate objects because nothing can really happen to you.
But still take this as a warning
Don't trust ELMO!
D is for dog
Dogs, Puppies, Doggies, K-9s, and Chein, no matter how you say it, it all means the same thing. DOG! My family has had 5 different dogs. I've only been alive for one of them, Rudi.
Rudi was a Portuguese Water Dogs, He was born on October 28, 2000. We got him when he was just a puppy. Rudi had Black wavy hair with white patches on his chest and paws. But this summer something terrible happened! On August 13, 2009 Rudi got intestinal cancer and had to be put down. But that wasn't the only thing that was wrong with Rudi.
When Rudi was 5 he was diagnosed with Addison's disease. Addison's disease is a adrenal insufficiency disease and it makes Rudi not be able to cope with anxiety. When ever we would leave him alone for the day he would freak out. But the veterinarian gave him some pills and he was allllllllll better. He had to take the pills ever morning. Rudi was a great dog and I loved him veryyyyyy much.
Rudi made me feel happy inside! He was a great dog. Rudi was a loving dogggy and was caring. He was a funny puppy, when we would go cross country skiing he would run in the ski tracks. He was soo small and he would drown in snow. As a puppy Rudi was sooo cute. He would sneeze so loud that you wouldn't think a dog so small could make that big of a sound.
Rudi was such a great dog and I think I under-appreciated him when he was alive. So my life lesson for you is that you don't always know what you have until it's gone.
C is for Chocolatiers
"He took me to empty room, empty except for a single piano. He sat me down and said... play." This is how Dan Cray described learning piano. He said that his teacher was not much help when it came to his lessons, but he went on to become a great jazz piano player.
I have taken Piano and singing for 9 years from Mari, but have known her for all my life. Mari is an alto-soprano and has her grade 10 in piano. But this post isn't about Mari's piano abilities. It's about how she took her dream and made it reality.
Mari loves chocolate. She always has, she wanted to incorporate chocolate into her career. About 8 years ago Mari decided to start chocolatiering. One of her good friends started to teach the ropes of chocolate. Mari started by making easy chocolates like solid things. But now her chocolate is a work of art. She makes things like lace balls, hazelnut filled chocolates, painted Santas and Much Much MORE!!!!!!!!!
Mari has always been a free spirited person she never tries to be someone shes not. Mari is a great person and has taught me many things; how to play piano, how to make chocolates, and how to make my dreeeeams come true!
(PS that was my life lesson!)
B is for Brother
"I made a snowman and my brother knocked it down and I cried, and then we had tea." ~Dylan Thomas.
This one quote describes my brother's and my relationship. At one moment we will be laughing and having fun and then the next we are fighting. Everybody thinks that we are the exact same but we both know that we are exact opposites.
First, I'm going to tell you a bit about my brother. My brother is Alexander Gregory Kochuk. He was born on August 30, 1989 that makes him 20 years old and 7 years, 7 months older than me. Alex is in his third year at St Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. My brother is 6 feet tall and has brown hair and green eyes. I think that my brother looks a lot like my dad, but everyone says that he looks like my mom.
Next, I'll tell you how mean my brother is. Alex said that one time when I was a baby, we were driving to go pick my grandma up from the airport and I wouldn't stop crying. No matter what they did, I wouldn't stop. Alex said that he wanted to "smother me with a pillow" (exact words) Fortunately, he didn't. Alex and I always fight, and most of the time it's about something stupid like, what channel to listen to on the radio or who gets to sit shot gun, which most of the time he wins. My sister Julia is right in the middle of us, I want her to be on my side and Alex wants her to be on his. Usually Julia ends up just walking away and leave Alex and me fighting. Another time, Alex was babysitting me and told me that if I didn't go to sleep ghosts would come out of the windows and eat me. Of course I was scared so I did exactly as I was told. Now that you read this you probably think that Alex was a bad brother but Alex isn't all bad.
Now I will tell you why Alex is the greatest brother ever. When I was born my brother was 7 years, 7 months old. He said that when my mom was pregnant with me he was a proud big brother and he would bring in the ultra-sound for show and tell in grade 3. Before I was born my brother sewed me a doggy bunting suit for me to wear when I was coming home from the hospital. Alex is a pretty good brother when he wants to, he would play with me, feed me when I was a baby, and includes me when he is doing things with his friends. Alex is encouraging and always making sure I do my best!
But if there's one thing I've learned from growing up with Alex is how to get along with people. We may not always like each other but we will always be brother and sister.
Life lesson: how to get along with people.
A is for Australia
Sure it's got deadly snakes, spiders, and sharks, but that doesn't stop Australia from being the best place I've ever gone!
Five years ago when I was in grade two my whole family went on a month long trip to Australia. Everything there was soo pretty. It had flowers I never saw before, and animals I couldn't even put a name to. All I knew was that I was going to love my trip!
The First place we went to was Sydney, Australia. It was big city, not what I imagined Australia would look like. My image of Australia was deserts and a bunch of kangaroos hopping around.
But in Sydney it was just like one of the cities in Ontario. We stayed 4 days in Sydney then we moved on to our next adventure.
The second place we visited was Cannes, Australia. This place was very warm and had beautiful beaches. My family did a bunch of things from relaxing on an empty beach to deep sea fishing and watching the dolphins. while we were their my brother took scuba diving lessons, he had soo much fun looking at the tropical fish on the Great Barrier Reef. My sister and I went parasailing, it was super scary but at the same time very exciting!
The final place my family went was the Outback, this is how you would imagine Australia. There it is very hot and very dusty. There is only a couple hotels and they are all on the same compound. The Outback is where Ayers Rock is, you've probably seen it in pictures its just a giant rock that is in the middle of desert! The thing I liked best about The Outback was getting to hold a Koala bear our family got to take pictures with one it was so cute but spelled like mint, I don't know why.
No matter where our family is we always have fun together!
Life lesson: love your family and have fun together!
